Some quick questions for director Carl Willat on what is probably the grossest commercial on the air.

Q: Who's idea was the PSA?
A: It was Adam Savage's basic idea,  but I came up the actual gag of Jamie getting nearly sprayed by Adam's massive sneeze.

Q: Who was the client?
A: : Discovery Channel and White House (US Dept. of HHS).
Here's the Discovery Channel blurb:
Discovery Channel and MYTHBUSTERS have teamed up with the United States Department of Health and Human Services to help inform the public about ways to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.

In their PSA, hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage utilize a high-speed camera to show the invisible aftermath of a sneeze, and offer a simple message for H1N1 virus prevention: One of the single most effective things you can do to stop the spread of flu, is to simply stay home if you feel sick. The PSA will air on Discovery Channel from October 12 through November 8, including primetime airings on October 14, 21 and 28 during the 9PM ET/PT MYTHBUSTERS hour.

Q: Was this a real sneeze?
A: Yes they're real sneezes! But the giant sneeze is about 8 sneezes combined together...

Q: What made Adam sneeze?
A: We tried many things, but the thing that worked the best, in the end,  was snuff!

Q: What kind of camera was used?
A: We shot with Vision Research Phantom camera

Q: What frame rate did you shoot at?
A: 5000 FPS but sped up a little after that for broadcast.

Q: Any special lighting equipment?
A: Director of Photography D. Matthew Smith!

Q: What kind of camera was used?
A: We used the Vision Research Phantom camera for the high speed stuff, but recorded the sound using the show's Sony cameras because the Phantom doesn't have synch sound.

Q: How long did it take to shoot?
A: One 10-hour day but I spent some more time testing and building the "scientific" background...
